Full Name:
Evelyn Shay Dane
Nickname:
Evelyn
Age:
22
Face Claim:
Emma Roberts
A LITTLE DEEPER,
Alliance:
Straggler
Personality:
Overall, Evelyn is a rebel girl who doesn't usually finish things she starts. She can be fiery and isn't shy at all. She tries to get the best out of life her way even if others don't think it's a good thing to do. She lives for the excitement in life and would not be able to live without. She does lose her temper sometimes and her personality would best be described as a hot chili pepper. Some people find it annoying when she snaps at them or does whatever the hell she wants. Though Evelyn can be a firecracker, she tries to do things with good instincts. The girl listens to her heart, not anyone else and that is the gas for her fiery personality. Evelyn believes originality is the key and instincts are the main thing to live life on. I guess you could say her personality is contradictory: on the outside she seems to not care. But on the inside, Evelyn in very spiritual and original.
To her friends and family, Evelyn can be a complete bitch at times. She absolutely loathes her mother for the terrible past she caused to her and she keeps hard grudges. But to her friends she can be quite contradictory, loyal and fun. She loves to make them laugh and tries to hang with her friends more than her family. But though she can be a sweet, loving friend, Evelyn can't help but take her anger out on them at times. She feels super guilty after she does. Her friendships have ended very quickly because of this. Over the years, as she took out her anger at everyone, she became closed up about her past life and keeps it hidden deep in the dark.
To strangers, Evelyn doesn't really care much about them. She is never intimidated by them. She will even go up to some at times and introduce herself. Evelyn chooses her acquaintances and as I said earlier relies on her instincts. She shows a great aptitude for a polite manner in front of new people. She shows respect for new people and doesn't shy away from them at all. Evelyn can be a bit headstrong and will follow a new person she likes around, starting to make friends. Although, if at some point the relationship doesn't appear to be one she wants to keep, she will put forth only a fraction of effort.

ON THE OUTSIDE,
[/size]Appearance:
Evelyn's body is very skinny. Evelyn is one of those short, tiny people that never get fat no matter how much they eat. But she weighs at most 120 pounds due more to her excersize then skinniness. Evelyn didn't like her height at first because people used to call her shorty. She is very athletic and exercises a lot. Most of her weight is from muscles. She really pushes herself when exercising, even though no matter what she does, she's going to stay the skinny twig she always was. She's got a small height for a girl, reaching 5'2". Her clothes are usually in fashion, ranging from booty shorts to skinny, ripped jeans. Though when in the presence of business partners, she is dressed professionally. Also whenever she is with horses, her attire includes loose shirts and breeches.
Evelyn's face, is shaped sort of like a narrow heart. It fits her body well and you can never tell what she's going to look like next. Some days, she might have purple highlights and blood red lipstick. On on other days, she might have a natural kind of look. Once she even dyed her hair pink! Evelyn takes her makeup very seriously; taking about an hour on it every morning. Like her clothes, in the presence of business, she does more of a natural look. Her eyebrows are plucked like most women and beautifully arched. But to tell the truth, Evelyn's best feature are her gold eyes. They catch the sunlight in a most magnificent way, looking like an amber jewel. Evelyn likes to add eye liner, and mascara to bring them out more.
Evelyn's hair, is contradictory to her face, always stays the same style. Her beautiful locks are naturally blonde with darker highlights, but she likes to dye it different colors. It falls down to just below her skinny shoulders. She likes to have her hair loose and crazy, which is what it is. At times it might appear her hair is a little wavy at the ends but Evelyn never is sure. The only time she ever ties it up is when she's riding, or exercising. Evelyn is very proud of her hair and treats it very well with herbal shampoos, conditioners and oils.
THE PAST,
History:
Childhood...
Evelyn Shay Dane was born on Monday, October 5th, 1989 at 2 a.m. in the morning. She was not born in a hospital, she was born in an alleyway in Lexington, Kentucky. Her mother was eighteen and her father was 19. They were teen parents and they tried their best to give her a good life. Evelyn grew up traveling around, hiding in alleyways, and begging. Some nights they wouldn't even have food on the table. They lived in a one room house, more like shack actually. Evelyn was brought into the world thinking this was the average life. So she didn't hate it, she accepted it. That was until she started school... Kindergarten to fourth grade, it was fun. Evelyn was accepted it and had many friends. But as she got into fifth, people started to bully her about her ragged clothes and how her face was always dirty. That was the horrible life Evelyn had to live. Suddenly, Evelyn's father got a new job, mucking out stalls for a barn. They moved into the staff quarters of the large racing farm and that's where she was introduced to horses. The first time Evelyn saw a horse, she didn't shy away. The tiny girl had simply walked up to it and petted it. That's when the owner of the farm, Grace Hamilton, knew she had gift. Grace was very surprised with the girl, she was headstrong about what she wanted. She caught the child in the barn petting the horses often and it almost looked like Evelyn knew what they were saying to her. A year passed, it was a simple life and Evelyn had fallen in love with horses. She used to help her father work as a stable hand just to be around them.
Teenage Years...
On August 22, 1999 Evelyn's top priority was born. Alex Dane had come into the world and Evelyn loved him to pieces. As he grew up, Evelyn took care of him with her mother. She would never leave his side and vise versa. They had a very strong bond together, unlike other siblings, they never fought. If Alex was hungry, Evelyn would give him her share of food so he was satisfied. Despite her giving everything to him, he didn't turn out to be spoiled. He turned into her new best friend. He came with Evelyn every day to help their father take care of the horses. Evelyn still loved the horses very much so and showed her love for them affectionately. She making sure they all got attention from her. Grace, the owner was still watching Evelyn as she learned more and more about the creatures. The girl would sometimes even sit and watch the horses running on the track. One night, Grace was going into the barn to check on the horses. She found Evelyn attempting to saddle up one of them. Grace of course stopped her immediately, but it was time. The next day, Grace came bright and early to Evelyn and asked her what her dream was. Evelyn replied with, "I don't know exactly but it's got racehorses in it." Grace was moved by the girl's words and took her out to the track for morning training. She taught Evelyn what was expected of the jockey and strategies for winning a race. She would let Evelyn hold the stopwatch and time the horses as well. This went on for about three years.
Tragedy and Main Life...
For the past three years, Evelyn was brought into the world of racing. She was a good learner and listened to all Grace's instructions. Grace was amazed at the progress of the sixteen year old girl. She learned fast and seemed to be born for it. But Evelyn's heart ached to ride. She was perfect to become a jockey. Grace taught the girl how to handle a galloping horse and Evelyn became her new exercise rider. She would ride the horses in the morning, then help out with the trainers the rest of the day. Evelyn's number one dream was to become a famous jockey. But tragedy struck the next day, Evelyn's father died of a mysterious heart attack. The family was devastated. But no one was more sad than Evelyn's mother. Annalise Dane lost her soul that day. Evelyn's mother stopped working completely, she didn't eat anything and barely left her room. Taking care of Alex, taking care of the damaged family was left to Evelyn. Evelyn cooked, and took care of Alex. Evelyn knew that if no one worked on the farm, they would be kicked out. So the girl ditched school and went to Grace for help. Grace felt pity on the family and offered Evelyn a job as an excersize rider, she was certainly qualified for it. When Evelyn turned eighteen, she deciede to was time. Evelyn left the farm for a few days and got her jockey license. She was very proud and started racing Grace's thoroughbreds. But on top of working, she had to take care of her family. She loved her job, but it was exhausting. Alex went to school and her mother stayed in her room. One day Evelyn just couldn't do it anymore! She ran to her mother's room and pounded on her door. She begged her to come out and take care of them. But nevertheless, Annalise refused to take care of her children. Evelyn went a little crazy after that, she hated her dad for dying and she hated her mother for abandoning her like that. The whole time, Grace watched as Evelyn's soul tore apart. The year Evelyn turned 22, Grace knew Evelyn had to get out of here. The girl had potential, but she never was going to go anywhere if she had to support her family. Grace went up to Evelyn with a ticket to California, and $20,000 to live on before she found a job. She told Evelyn to leave and find her spirit at the Santa Anita Track. She told Evelyn she would take care of Alex for as long as she lived and take care of Annalise. It was an offer Evelyn couldn't refuse, so she left promising to come back and take Alex someday. That's when tragedy struck. Evelyn took a shi[ loaded with passengers to California, but... unfortunetly along the way; it leaked. Water seeped into the vessel and pulled it down under with nearly everyone in it. Evelyn was one of the lucky ones.

Evelyn looked back down at the desk as Gabby took a moment. She had to get this job, it was important, she couldn't skip this oppurtunity. Her decision to come to Arcadia, California was for a mission. A mission to succeed in life, even when her parents could not. She never wanted her kids to be like her, she wanted them to achieve in life; become doctors or lawyers or something. The only way she knew how to do that was to succeed in the jockey world. Evelyn grinned at her deep thoughts; such a drama queen, Grace would've said. " Great. I will have you doing some workouts on the horses this morning after you sign some papers." Gabby had just confirmed Evelyn's hopes. It took everything Evelyn had to contain her excitement. It always was a good feeling to get hired. She just hoped she wouldn't have to expericence the oposite ever. Gabby raised her hand to and Evelyn shook it firmly. The lady gave her some forms and told her to sign them with a Spanish word. Evelyn smiled, she loved to hear people talk into new interesting languages. Her hand held the pen tightly as she peered at the papers. Evelyn never signed something she didn't read first. Her gold eyes read thoughtfully and carefully until the words ran out. She nodded thoughtfully at the document, she agreed with it. Evelyn pushed the pen against the paper and in a fluttery, quick style signed her name. Evelyn Dane was hired once again. New job, new farm, new experience.
She smiled at Gabby, she would surely enjoy this job. Anything with horses made her happy really. It was the center of her life. Evelyn followed Gabby out of the office into the now red sky. The sun was just starting to rise and the birds were already singing their tunes. Gabby led her to one of the many red barns, the closest barn. It was beautifully made, she couldn't help but love the fact that the horses could stick their heads out to get fresh air. It always saddened her when she saw metal boxes they called stalls. Poor creatures cramped in there, bored as hell. No sunshine, Evelyn would have died. Gabby led EVelyn closer to the stalls and her breath stopped short. Three breeders' cup winners stood before. It was like heaven for Evelyn. She grinned and smiled at the black one. A stallion, "Anarchy", if she could remember it. He showed a little curiosity to her as a guest. His eyes were a very sweet brown.
" Here is the stallion barn. This is my active stallions running today, part of them are mine and part of them are others that I work for. We take all horses out for walks regardless. It's all apart of the training program." Gabby explained, breaking Evelyn's train of thought. But adding a new one instead, she remembered Gabby was trainer. It hadn't occured to her about the other's horses living here. She followed Gabby down the aisle smiling at all the horses curiously peeking out at her. Finally they stopped a muscled bay colt. He was a lovely looking creature, couldn't be more than two. She listened as Gabby explained his name was "Conquistador". Evelyn smiled, work outs were always fun. It allowed her to get to know the horse and the better she knew the horse and the way it moved; the better she would ride. She watched as Gabby opened the door and a rubber guard stopped Conquistador from getting out. " All workouts stay here. Meaning you are not to report who worked out, what time they worked out, days they worked out or how fast they worked out. Leaves the other trainers questioning wither not if they should have their jockey looks out for the other horses." Gabby told her firmly but added a quick chuckle. Evelyn grinned, the trainer's smarts impressed her. "Don't worry, I'll take it to my grave."
