Luke sat on one of the large rocks near the tide pools. The ocean gently sprayed up, misting him. He was wearing a pair of shorts and plain white tee shirt. His blue eyes studied the ocean, watching the seagulls screech and dive bomb the ocean surface. He pushed his glasses up onto his nose and sighed.
Emma was off on the beach. He had told her to meet him here in an hour, just so he could make sure nothing happened to her. She was only 12, but he felt as though she was his daughter. The accident with her parents dying left her pretty shaken up. It was hard. He missed his sister just as much as Emma missed her mother. Luke's nose wrinkled at the brine scent that omitted off the ocean.
The sun was out, and it was nice day out. A few fluff white clouds drifted lazily across the sky. He was still thinking about the ship wreck and how he was lucky to escape with Emma.
Luke got up off the rock and began walking along the tide pools, letting his bare feet sink into the soft sand.
He hadn't met any other Stragglers around, most of them were islanders. He hoped to meet someone interesting soon. Not that he minded Emma's company, he loved it. But it was just nice to meet someone else.
Luke found another large rock and sat on it, letting the cold water sweep over his ankles.

Catalina had made her way through the jungle for the majority of the day and the sun was definitely heating up her body temperature as she made her way out from underneath the tree cover. Her light green eyes scanned the horizon as she made her way towards the water, wading into the waves of the ocean until she was deep enough that she could dive under the cool water. After a moment of swimming under water, she resurfaced and brushed her long wet hair out of her face before walking back up the beach.
It was then that she caught sight of the man that was sitting on a rock with his feet in the water not too far away from where she was. She couldn't believe she didn't see him before and she turned her direction and headed towards her, a bit of a mischievous smirk on her face as she got closer and closer to him. As the distance between them decreased, she was able to make out his handsome features better and she felt a smile cross her lips at the thought of an attractive man on the island, even though it was clear he was yet another survivor from the ship wreck. She had to admit, she was rather surprised at how many people had washed ashore from the wreck. She was almost starting to worry that the island wouldn't be able to support it's drastically growing population.
"Who are you?" she asked him as she came to stand in front of him and put her hands on her hips, raising her brows a bit as she waited for him to answer. A smirk was still on her face though and her light green eyes took him in quickly before returning to his face. He wore more clothes than she did since she was only wear a bikini style top and bottoms.

Luke looked up at the beautiful woman standing in front of him with her hands on her hips. Luke grinned at her.
"I'm Luke" He replied extending his hand out to her.
He raised his other hand to shield the sunlight from his face.
"What brings you out onto the tide pools today?" he asked good naturedly. He wore a friendly expression on his face as he studied her. She was certainly beautiful. He wondered how many others had washed ashore. Probably more than he knew or realized.
Luke turned his attention back to the woman.
"So what's your name?" he asked cheerfully. He gesutured to the rock in front of him. "Care to join me?"
He beamed at her.
Normally Luke was shy around women, but for some reason he wasn't around her. His blue eyes caught the sunlight behind his glasses making them twinkle.
Luke stretched his legs out enjoying the feel of his body. He sat, patiently waiting for the woman to respond.

Catalina wasn't sure what to think of the man right away and but she felt in a rather good mood today so instead of being her normal, sarcastic self, she decided to instead humor him and be nice. At least for now.
"I'm Catalina Raine. And I think the better question would be why are you here since I live on this island." she replied, a smirk on her face as she shifted her stance a bit before taking a couple of steps towards the rocks he was sitting on and taking a seat on a smaller one that sat in front of him.
She looked up at him with her light blue green eyes before letting her long legs stretch out towards the little pool at her feet. Slipping her feet into the cool water, she sighed a bit with pleasure at the feeling of the water against her tired feet and she decided that it may not have been such a bad thing that she did take the time to talk to this man. Only time would tell though.

Luke smiled.
"It's nice to meet you Catalina. This island is certainly lovely and amazing" Luke said looking around again. She had asked what he was doing on the island, being she lived here.
"OH!. Well we had a bit of an accident really. The ship capsized and a few of us managed to make it ashore" Luke explained. "I made it along with my 15 year old niece Emma."
Luke shifted his weight on the rock.
Luke tilted his head to the side curiously.
"Does your family live nearby?" He implied curiously studying Catalina. Luke wondered what Emma was up to now. She probably was still lounging on the beach now mingling with the other younger stragglers that had washed up after the accident.
Luke knew that at least the islanders were more hospitable than some. Luckily tho they had managed to find an island period or else they might have drowned out there in the opened. He didn't care what happened to him , but it was Emma he was more concerned about. Luke continued to smile at Catalina, as he kept his eyes on her giving her the utmost attention and respect.
