They bounced their oversized glasses together and took a long swig of the toxic substance that was mixed with other fruit tastes. The group was in one of the large closets downstairs. Parents and other adult like figures we're upstairs flailing over business and boring things such as wine. Meanwhile the younger side of the ship was downstairs partying.
Alek had drank beyond her limit. It was growing late into the night as she felt weary and tired. Her brother, Aleksander basically carried her as he waved goodbye for the night. Quietly walking back to the corridor rooms, he laid her down among their bed. He smiled warmly at her and covered her in a warm blanket. Crawling in next to her, he put an arm over her as he always did. These two we're always together.
-- Shock. Aleksandra felt water engulfing her suddenly. She fell off a floating cabinet piece. Cool water soaked her clothes and she felt her heavy boots from the night before fill with water as they weighed her down. A pulsing scream echoed around as she tasted the salt water filter her mouth. Spitting it out, she screamed again. "ALEK! ALEK!!" She simply screamed for her brother, he was the only person who came to mind.
Naturally Alek scrambled in the deep sea water toward the wood piece again. It appeared almost dawn as the sky lightened to a pale grey color, she reached into her pocket to grab her cell phone. 6:24am was all it said, as she tried to go through her contacts there was simply no service. Although it seemed to still work despite being in the water. Aleksandra jerked around and suddenly hit something with her boots.
She was internally grateful she had them on, thinking about touching something underwater made her want to faint. But when she brought her gaze up- only a few hundred feet away was land. A smile flashed so big among her features, she took her boots to her advantage and started pushing the wood board forward. She could hardly swim and it bewildered her that she didn't remember anything other than sleeping beside her brother...
Had he done it? She didn't know, but the only thing important to her was him. Where was he now? She pushed the thoughts aside for a moment and rejoiced as her boots pushed into visible sand beneath the water surface. Waves crashed in behind her and she went tumbling down back into the sand. She sort of whimpered but a smile was present on her face as she scrambled for the dry land. She hated the open water, the thought of it sent shivers down her slender body. Lucky her- her pink blouse, designer jeans and leather jacket we're simply wet.
Crawling up the side a bit, she felt thankful for not having to face the deep waters very long plus it was the beginning of the day. Uncomfortably she pulled off her nearly knee high-boots and let water and sand fall out. She breathed heavily and stood up quickly. Looking into the woodlands, was there others? She didn't even know what the hell just happened. Instead she walked forward, with the intentions of finding her brother, or someone.

It seemed like Chance had been on the island for decades when he knew that wasn't true at all. He had only been on the island for a few days, a week max. And at first things had seemed pretty bleak but when he had found others and they had banded together to form the Western Key Tribe, it had definitely turned things. It was better being with others because then things didn't seem quite so impossible. It almost felt like you had a family again and friends that were there for you when you needed them. That was the way that Chance wanted everyone in his tribe to feel. Like they were a part of something bigger. A family. Where no matter what happened, they wouldn't turn on each other and no matter their differences, they would do anything to help each other.
Today was a pretty easy day, the weather was promising and most of the other members of the Western Key Tribe were either out hunting, gathering or searching the beaches for other supplies from the ship that might have washed up on shore. Chance was going to search the further beach to see if he could find any survivors or supplies. Not everybody had gotten to the island at the same time. Chance assumed that every day another person or two washed up on shore. Whether they were dead or alive was a mystery. It was always a tragedy to find someone you recognized from the cruise ship wash up on the shore, dead. It really put life into perspective and showed you just how lucky you were to be alive.
As Chance made his way through the trees of the inner island, he caught sight of sand and smiled a bit as he stepped through the last couple of trees until he was standing on the beach. He was dressed in a simple pair of white board shorts with no shoes on and no shirt on. His short blonde hair stuck up in different directions and his light blue eyes scanned the beach when they came to rest on the shape of a young woman standing on the beach staring at the jungles of the island. Furrowing his eyebrows, Chance took a few steps towards the girl until he was close enough to talk to her without shouting.
"Are you alright? I'm Chance Caine. You're from the cruise ship aren't you." he spoke to her, his voice trying to sound soft and calm and he gave a friendly smile as he watched her carefully, looking her over to see if she was bleeding or appeared to be wounded in any way though she seemed to have been pretty lucky and looked rather unscathed for that matter. His own body had been scraped up a bit when he had first arrived on the island and a few scabbed over cuts could still be seen on his muscular abs and arms but nothing too serious.

Alek stood there as the gray dawn skies grew brighter. The sun still hidden, but she found it oddly comforting. The sounds of nature, the warm temperature and beginning of a new day. Alek registered all these little things as she praised the gods for being alive from whatever disaster may have happened. But as the wind blew her hair into her face, she sighed and knew someone like her felt more comfort around civilization.
"Are you alright? I'm Chance Caine. You're from the cruise ship aren't you."
She questioned herself for not jumping in the air when the voice reached her left ear. Her long blonde locks of hair flew over her shoulder as she looked at him. There was a young man standing there, shirtless but that's not what made her eyes grow. Seeing as he towered over her, she was one of the shortest people she knew- yet seeing him made her feel all that much better.
Aleksandra took a few steps into the uneven sand and flung herself to him. Her smile was stretched across her face as her hazel eyes grew with such honesty it was almost pitiful. She shivered within her leather jacket as she greedily hugged him. She grew up clinging to protective figures such as he. "I'm fine, thanks and yes- yes I'm from the ship!" Alek seemed to be talking to fast for her own good as she helplessly clung to him.
She didn't feel awkward, nor odd- nothing of the sort, but she moved back and looked up at him with a thankful grin. "Oh, yeah- I'm Aleksandra Karlyle... you haven't seen my twin brother, have you?" She held her hands arms together and looked at him cheerfully. This was the blunt happy girl, everyone heard about.

Chance was a bit surprised when the young woman literally threw herself at him. Her arms wrapped around him and he smiled, chuckling a bit as he wrapped his arms around her too, feeling her shiver a bit against his chest. He stood there for a bit, holding onto her until she finally let go and looked up at him, introducing herself and asking if he had seen her twin brother. A thoughtful look spread across Chance's face and he thought back to the people he had seen on the island, both living and dead but remembered no one that looked similar to her.
"I'm sorry to say I have not. But there are people washing ashore everyday. Take you for example." he replied, a playful smile on his face as he put his arms out as if showing her off. He knew from experience that when people first came ashore after being lost at sea for awhile, there were a few things that needed to be done before anything else. First of all, he needed to make sure she wasn't hurt in any way. Then secondly he would need to get her out of some of her wet clothes so they could dry.
"Are you hurt at all? Anything feel sore, broken, bleeding?" he asked, his light blue eyes looking her over once more to see if he had missed anything when he had gave her a quick one over from further away. When she still seemed to be okay, he went ahead and spoke again before she could answer since when she did start talking she talked a mile a minute it seemed.
"We need to get you out of some of these clothes so they can dry. Otherwise you might caught a cold." he replied, lifting up a section of her jacket that was completely soaked still. It didn't seem possible to be able to catch a cold when you were out on a beautiful island such as this but it was definitely possible, especially with the cool breeze that brushed through the trees and if you're clothes were already soaked then you could be in trouble.

It cleared her mind of whatever stress could be creeping up behind her. It also made her just feel generally safe. Not to say she had a sheltered life, but she had been raised to depend on this type of comfort. She simply couldn't help it. She stepped back as he accepted this folly of hers.
"I'm sorry to say I have not. But there are people washing ashore everyday. Take you for example."
Chance had hold of her shoulders gently. She appreciated it, but hearing that sort of sent her back into a low mood. Where could he be? She told herself he was okay, he probably just washed ashore else where. He was okay. Yeah. Alek had let her hazel eyes drift back to her own eye level, which was his chest. She realized this then jerked her gaze back up at him, she couldn't help she was so short.
"Are you hurt at all? Anything feel sore, broken, bleeding?...We need to get you out of some of these clothes so they can dry. Otherwise you might caught a cold."
The tone of Chance's voice was sincere and Alek found herself not worrying about the fact they were stranded on an island, who knows where. She casually glanced down at herself, where he held a part of her jacket. Alek rolled her shoulders then tilted her head with a little smile, "I think I'm one of the lucky ones." In fact, Alek felt rather good.
Her blonde curls flew over her shoulder as Alek shuffled in the sand awkwardly to go grab her boots. In her mind the only thing that kept shocking her with more gratefulness was she had her bikini on under this from last night. She sighed a breath of relief as she padded back toward him. Simple mindedly she smiled at the fact if she hadn't been wearing it.
The boots were back on the shore line, which didn't seem far away. But Alek decided to start casually stripping down as she walked back. Suddenly the walk back toward Chance seemed really long. Morally, Alek was truthful, she just liked to have a good time. She felt reliant among 'strong guys' naturally, but she also felt as if she was blushing as she continued to take off her soaking wet clothing.
The breeze brought a shiver to her small body and bumps along her light skin. Yet the sun felt so nice. Her hazel eyes refocused on Chance who was beside her once again. She returned with a smile on her face and clothes at hand. She giggled, looking down at her toes in the sand, then grew sort of silent looking back at him. Her smile was adorable, "I'm hungry already." She laughed at herself happily and shivered again.

Chance couldn't help but feel jealous of her optimistic outlook on life. She didn't seem to let the whole situation of being stranded on a island get her down. In fact, it was quite the opposite. She seemed genuinely happy to be alive which she should, Chance had been happy to be alive when he had first washed up on shore but he remembered that he had felt a lot more alone and hopeless than she seemed to be right now. She would be the perfect addition to the Western Key tribe that he was the leader of. It was always good to have a person around that could help bring hope to the others and raise people's spirits. The question was, would she want to join the tribe. There was only one way to find out.
"Well I just so happen to be the leader of the Western Key Tribe and our camp isn't too far off if you would like to join us then we can get you food and shelter and you can rest and get your strength back and then we can help you find your brother." he replied, a hopeful smile on his face as he looked down at her as she looked like she was preparing to take her wet clothes off so they could dry.
As she walked back to gather up her boots, she stripped the rest of her clothes off as she made her way back towards Chance. He stifled a smile as she came towards him, now in nothing but a bikini. She was a very beautiful young woman, that he had found out when he had first seen her but now it was just confirmed for him as she came to stand in front of him with her clothes in her arms. He waited for her to answer his question before he said or did anything else.
As he waited for her answer, his mind began to wander a bit back to his tribe and he thought over what would need to be done for dinner tonight and who's turn it was to cook the meal and what tasks would need to be completed as well. His light blue eyes glanced up at the sky to see if the weather looked like it would be bringing rain for tonight. Because if that was the case then different precautions would need to be made as well in order to keep the camp from getting blown away and to keep everyone dry and warm if it stormed or rained. His attention finally pulled back to Alek and he looked down at her with his light blue eyes, a soft and friendly smile on his face as he waited for her response once more.
